In creating the book Shelton and Denny worked together to make sure that as many children as possible will find members of their own families in the illustrations.

And, of course, Shelton’s astounding cats will delight everyone who reads the story.

Denny Taylor is predicting that many children will become joyful readers by listening to Rat-a-tat-tat! I’ve Lost My Cat! The story hums. It is predictable and children will find it easy to read along, gaining insights about the reading process as they enjoy the story and illustrations.
