About the Event
The Mercy College Manhattan Campus event will be a time for great conversations about writing and publishing. Garn Press anticipates that all Garn authors will be there to talk with writers of every age who would like more information about publishing at a time when a revolution is taking in the publishing industry.
Come ready to actively participate in lively conversations about: the role of writers and readers in thinking about the future; standing up for human rights; and how social media is impacting collective action. Nancy Rankie Shelton and Carolyn Walker will discuss memoir writing, David Joseph Kolb rewriting history, Anthony Cody writing to challenge oligarchs and their unacceptable influence on public schools, and Ruth Finnegan, Geoff Ward, and Marty Lee will discuss big idea fiction. A full list will follow.
The idea is to create a forum for Garn Press writers to meet with new and aspiring writers to talk about the experience of writing and publishing as the industry transitions from “old” to “new” publishing. We will talk about all aspects of publishing – from writing and editing, finding and working with a publisher, to publicity and marketing.
