About the Event

This remarkable event included a Readers Theater performance in which all attending Garn authors – fiction and non-fiction writers — participated. Both profound and funny, the Readers Theater combined big idea fiction with the power of science to stand up for human rights in the struggle for the future that is taking place all over the world.

The Readers Theater included literature, magical, quixotic and liberatory, sane and inane, world affairs, how we live and how we die, how we educate our children, how our political masters frame our lives, how we rebel and create our own frames, how we struggle for the future, struggle with existential risks that in past generations didn’t exist – or if they did we did not know about them.

We hope you will join us to cheer Garn authors on and then participate in the conversation with them that will follow about the sheer joyfulness of reading books and the angst we all feel as we make connections between these uncertain times and the books we read. Special thanks to Jerry Harste for the Hearts painting. Watch the full video event here.

At Garn we want the public to have the best possible opportunity to participate in decisions about the planet and their kids — to have the confidence of knowing what’s happening and a chance to respond to the rapid changes that are taking place. Garn is particularly interested in publishing easily accessible books by scientists and scholars — many of whom are teachers and first time authors — whose professional experience and scientific knowledge challenge the false narratives about human societies and unearth the propaganda that is often presented to the public as “factual” and “the truth.”

At Garn with Patreon’s support we promise to continue publishing great books and providing great reading opportunities for readers that encourage all of us to be brave, be fearless, and not forget to imagine the extraordinary opportunities of being human in these most challenging times.
